OUR STORY
Die Watermeul Country Inn & Restaurant, formerly known as Green Gables, is situated at the edge of the picturesque heritage village of McGregor, which lies within the Robertson wine valley at the foot of the Riviersonderend mountains in the Western Cape. The site was constructed around 1860 and 1862, and is officially declared a heritage site, with 3 of its buildings and the old watermill holding monument-status.
At Die Watermeul, there are 3 cottages available for a peaceful and quiet stay, and guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast served with love by chef Zanne. Each cottage is equipped with a kitchenette,
Wi-Fi and DStv.
Additionally, guests and visitors can enjoy a taste of traditional South African cuisine at our restaurant (open for breakfast, lunch and supper from Friday to Sunday) and cool off and enjoy a swim in the lovely pool.
Whether you want to visit the Saturday market or take a stroll down the tranquil streets and browse the charming little shops, we invite you to take the road less travelled to Die Watermeul in McGregor and enjoy a journey of old-world charm and South African nostalgia
and tradition.
